🎙️ Moving Up. Reed Smith was promoted to head coach of the Pea Ridge girls basketball program after being an assistant coach over two separate stints. Joining Alyssa Orange on this episode of Varsity Vibe, Smith talks about what he learned from Heath Neal, how he's adjusting to his new role, and what he hopes the future of Lady Blackhawks basketball looks like.

🙌 Kicking it Off. Summer football action is underway as Benton opened its 7-on-7 showcase with a win over Little Rock Parkview. The Panthers protected their home turf to kick off offseason competition, giving fans an early glimpse at teams preparing for the 2026 season.
👀 Trading Places. Russellville is turning to a new coach, hiring Josh Ferrell as the Cyclones’ new head boys basketball coach. Ferrell brings head coaching experience from Caddo Hills, Paris and most recently West Fork, where he coached his alma mater this past season.
🫡 Moving On. Har-Ber softball’s Randy Osnes announced his retirement after three seasons leading the Lady Wildcats. Osnes guided the Wildcats to 72 wins and three-straight 6A state runner-up finishes after previously building a powerhouse at Farmington, where he won three state championships and 21 conference titles across more than two decades of work.

🏈 Har-Ber quarterback Brice Owens has had a hot start to the season, helping lead the Wildcats through a strong showing of 7-on-7 action. Owens showcased accuracy throughout the tournament at Elkins, connecting on multiple passes to receivers Grayre Graham, Breck Roach, and Reed McAllister. Har-Ber is building momentum for the regular season, with Owens at the forefront.
