🎙️ Varsity Vibe Today. There are only two more weeks of the regular season for high school football left and we look to Week 9 and some of the big matchups around the state. Plus, someone will have a chance to bring home a state title on Saturday: Who’s playing in the high school volleyball championship games in Hot Springs? Find out in today’s episode of Varsity Vibe Today.

👀 8-0 On The Line. Southside travels to Greenwood tonight, with both teams coming off of big wins. The Bulldogs held Van Buren to just 3 points while racking up 56 of their own. Senior quarterback Kane Archer threw for 320 yards and rushed for 114 with two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Southside took down Russellville, 56-15. With the win, the Mavericks’ record moved to 5-3, while Greenwood holds an 8-0 record. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm and can be watched here.

🏃‍♂️ Running the West. Fayetteville’s Alan Gallardo-Lopez raced to victory, taking the top spot at 6A-West Cross Country Championships. Gallardo-Lopez finished with a time of 15:54.21. Thanks to six top-10 finishes, Bentonville took the boys’ team title. On the girls’ side, Har-Ber sophomore Hattie Ray Beshears took the individual title after finishing with a time of 17:55.35. Rogers claimed the girls’ team title.

🏈 Cats vs Dogs. The Springdale Bulldogs host Bentonville tonight in a key 7A-West matchup. Springdale is looking to rebound from a 52-28 loss to Fayetteville, while the Tigers come in unbeaten. In Bentonville’s 31-28 victory over Rogers, senior quarterback Cole Slepecki and the offensive looked explosive, with the defense coming in clutch to seal the win. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm and can be watched here. 

🏈 Bentonville West quarterback Tre Thompson looked electric in the Wolverines’ 56-28 win against Rogers Heritage. The senior accounted for five touchdowns, including four passing. Thompson completed 21-of-26 passes for 283 yards as the Wolverines racked up 397 total yards. Now 4-1 in 7A-West play, Bentonville West travels to Fort Smith to face off with Northside tonight. The game will start at 7:00 pm and can be watched here.

🏈 Mountain Home has a perfect 5-0 record against Van Buren the past five years, and they’re looking to extend that streak tonight. The Bombers enter off of a dominant 42-7 win over Lake Hamilton, marking their fourth victory by 27 points or more. They’ve scored more than 31 points in six straight games, while holding opponents to less than 10 points at home. Van Buren looks to rebound after a tough loss to Greenwood. The game is set for 7:00 pm and can be watched here.

⛹️‍♀️ Performance Athlete of the Week. This week, our Performance Athlete of the Week is JJ Moore. Moore has put in serious effort in the gym, and it’s paying off. He’s shaved 0.15 seconds off of his 40-yard dash and 0.14 seconds off of his 20-yard dash. Moore’s Pro-Agility time improved by 0.46 seconds, while he also added 11 inches to his broad jump and 6.5 inches to his vertical. His consistency and dedication is paying off in a huge way! 🏈 Conway will hit the road and travel to Little Rock Christian, as both teams look to continue their winning ways. The Wampus Cats have won six straight, while the Warriors winning streak is at three games. Conway just took down Pulaski Academy, 61-38, marking the sixth game that they’ve won by 23 points or more. Little Rock Christian dominated Little Rock Southwest, 45-8, showcasing a fast-paced offense and tough defense. The game will start at 7:00 pm and can be streamed here.
