👀 This week’s One to Watch
Let’s get started!
🎙️ Coaches Talk. Elkins brought home the trophy a season ago in the 4A, but once again the classification is wide open and full of talented teams around the state. The Coaches Pod and Varsity Vibe take a look at the 4A heading into the 2026 season.

🏟️ Dub-Step. The Robinson Senators got off to a fast start this season, taking down Little Rock Catholic, 42-14, at War Memorial Stadium. After Catholic took the early lead, Robinson — the defending 5A state champs — rolled off 35 straight points to put the contest out of reach. Robinson will look to improve to 2-0 next week, hosting Little Rock Central at home, while Catholic travels to Frisco, Texas, to take on John Paul II (Plano).
🏈 Kickin’ It Off. Farmington opens the season tonight at Mountain Home with plenty of experience, returning 11 starters from last year’s team. The Cardinals will turn to senior quarterback Slade Norwood, a former Greenland standout who passed for 2,830 yards and 35 touchdowns as a sophomore. Farmington has gone 21-5 since coach Tommy Tice took over in 2024, while Mountain Home looks to build on last season’s 9-3 record.
🏆 Opening Win. Bentonville West opened its volleyball season with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Farmington, last year’s 5A state runner-up. Senior Audrey Calva led the Lady Wolverines with 18 kills and four aces, while senior Claire Schofield delivered the final kill to seal the fourth set.
⛳️ On Par. Fayetteville took the top spot at its own Bulldog Classic, shooting a team score of 296 at Paradise Valley Golf Club. The Bulldogs finished two strokes ahead of Bentonville (298), while Rogers placed third at 311. Bentonville’s Jack Bennett claimed medalist honors with a 2-under 69, while Fayetteville’s Toby Kim finished runner-up with a 71.

🏈 Getting Salty. One of the best traditions in Arkansas high school football is back, as defending 7A state champion Bryant takes on Benton in the annual Salt Bowl. Bryant went 13-0 last year, winning a second-straight state title and their seventh in eight seasons. The Bryant defense features a couple of Power 4 conference commits, and will provide a real challenge for Benton.
This year’s game has a “Stars, Stripes and Friday Night Lights” theme, celebrating America’s 250th Birthday tonight at 7:00 pm at Hornet Stadium in Bryant. You can watch the game here.

🏐 Beaux Cameron came up clutch for Springdale Har-Ber in its 6A-West opener, leading the Lady Wildcats to a 3-0 sweep of Fort Smith Southside. The sophomore outside hitter finished with 17 kills, five blocks and three digs, including 10 of Har-Ber’s final 15 points as the Lady Wildcats rallied from a 23-20 deficit in the third set. Cameron’s performance helped Har-Ber snap a nine-game losing streak against Southside.
