Let’s dive right in!

🎙️ Varsity Vibe Today. Week 2 of high school football is here! Alyssa Orange and Brey Cook get you ready for the biggest games on Friday night.

Then, in today’s episode of Varsity Vibe Stories, Jeff Regan talks about letting his abilities speak for themselves and how he has always played the game. The senior for the Rogers Mounties went from an all-purpose guy to a record-breaking quarterback and now a leader in his final season. As a junior, he rushed for more than 1,000 yards and threw for more than 2,000 yards, something no quarterback in 7A has ever done. But he’s not flashy or boastful or looking for recognition — he’s just a football player who’s loved the game since he was a kid.

💪 Rivalry Remains. The Mountain Home-Harrison rivalry is still stronger than ever, with the Bombers taking the victory this season 28-14. The win marked the third-straight year Mountain Home beat the Goblins at home — the first time this has happened in 42 years. Senior quarterback Brantlee Phillips led the way with 191 passing yards and four total touchdowns, with three of them to senior Carter Adkins.

🤞 Tied Up. Prairie Grove and Farmington meet up this week in a series that couldn’t be any closer! Since 2001, the schools are dead even with 12 wins apiece in this local rivalry. Farmington won last year, 28-8. Both teams enter this year’s matchup off of losses after Prairie Grove fell to Tahlequah Sequoyah (OK) and Farmington lost to Har-Ber, 35-21.

🏐 Wildcat Win. The Har-Ber volleyball team took down the Northside Grizzlies in three-straight sets this week. Leighton Keyes now leads the Lady Wildcats in kills (74) and serving aces (11). The win extends Har-Ber’s record to 5-4 overall.

🏈 Shiloh Christian QB Cole Creighton played an instrumental role in the Saints’ 44-13 win against Little Rock Christian. The junior threw for 412 yards and three touchdowns, completing 30-of-42 passes. After throwing an interception in the first quarter, Creighton responded by moving the Saints 80 yards in four plays, including a 52-yard pass to receiver Zane Sluyter. More impressive than his work off the field is his journey to recovery following collarbone injuries against the Warriors the two previous seasons. Not only was Creighton able to stay healthy, but he also delivered a big win.

🏆 Bryant and Parkview, last year’s 7A and 5A state champions, square off in a highly anticipated nonconference matchup tonight. The Hornets are coming off a 31-14 win over out-of-state opponent Newton (GA) in which quarterbacks Kyler Shelby and Jeremiah Motes combined for 368 passing yards and three touchdowns. Last Friday, Parkview showcased their strong offense with a 42-14 victory over Maumelle. The two programs last met at Bryant in 2023, with the Patriots coming out on top with a 28-27 win. Bryant answered back last year when the two teams met at War Memorial Stadium with a 30-10 win. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm and can be watched here.

🏋️‍♂️ Performance Athlete of the Week. Improvement matters. Especially for young athletes looking to excel in sports. Every week, we’re highlighting those who have put the work in to get better. This week, our Performance Athlete of the Week is Farmington’s Ethan Kennedy. The senior basketball player has taken his game to another level through determination and hard work. His numbers speak for themselves: +5.5” on his standing vertical, +5.6” on his approach vertical, +8” on his broad jump, and major speed improvements across the board. With Bridges Therapy Group, Kennedy is -0:13 off his 40 YD, -0:25 off his 20 YD and -0:45 off Pro Agility. To learn more about the program, visit srdathlete.com.
