🎙️Tiger Talk. In this week's episode of Varsity Vibe, hosted by Alyssa Orange, we talk with the director and producer of "Because of the Tigers" about their documentary on the 2001 football team. We also highlight Fayetteville's Will Caston as he gets ready to lead the Purple Dogs his senior season.

🏆 On Defense. Mansfield is ready to begin its title defense after a perfect 14-0 season last year that ended with a 40-30 win over Fordyce in the 3A state championship. The Tigers went 7-0 in conference play and will begin this season with a scrimmage against Lamar tonight before opening the regular season Aug. 28 against Dardanelle.

🐺 Ready to Roar. Lincoln is heading into the season with a much deeper roster after depth issues limited the Wolves to a 2-8 record last season. The roster has grown from around 25-30 players to 40. Quarterback Korbin Price has impressed in the offseason, while Tyson Cockrell and Timothy Yang are emerging as key pieces on defense.

⚠️ Helmet Hazard. A Maumelle football player got quite the surprise at practice last week when a 2-foot cottonmouth was found hiding inside his helmet. The player noticed unusual movement after warmups and handed the helmet to a coach, who discovered the venomous snake behind the padding. Luckily, the player wasn’t bitten and grabbed a different helmet to finish practice.

🏈 Springdale senior running back Wilder Lherisse is ready to make his mark this season after earning All-Conference honorable mention honors last year. As one of the Bulldogs’ returning offensive leaders, Lherisse will be a key player to watch as Springdale kicks off the new season. With his experience and physical running style, Lherisse will look to help lead the Bulldogs on offense and build on his strong junior season.

⛳️ Har-Ber’s Sallie Morris had a standout performance at the Springdale Links Shootout, making her a player to watch as golf season progresses. Morris shot a 36 to earn medalist honors and lead the Lady Wildcats to the team title with a score of 126. Her strong round helped Har-Ber finish 27 strokes ahead of second-place Shiloh Christian.

⛳️ Har-Ber took home both team titles at the Springdale Links Shootout. The Har-Ber girls shot a 126 to finish well ahead of second-place Shiloh Christian, while the boys posted a 144 to beat Siloam Springs. Sallie Morris earned girls medalist honors with a 36, while Will Daniel tied for the boys title at 34.
